Existing statutory dispute resolution procedures are repealed and employment tribunals are given discretionary powers to vary awards if a relevant Code of Practice hasn't been met.

The Severn Bridge Tolls Order 2008, 1 January 2009 Increases toll charges. For example, large goods vehicles and buses must now pay £16.30. The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) Regulations 2009, from 3 March 2009 Amendment regulations in order to introduce mirror retrofit, remove time-expired elements of speed limiter rules and provide for ECE Regulations in relation to buses.
The Local Transport Act 2008 (Commencement No.1 and Transitional Provisions) Order 2009, from 9 February Various provisions of the Act are to be brought into force on specified dates, including enabling legislation to vary traffic areas and to introduce the measure of impounding PSVs that are used without operator licences.
In most cases, additional regulations are required to bring these new rules into force.
