Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

with a friend regarding the Midland Red company? Is a turbocharged or supercharged engine fitted in any of the company's motorways coaches?

ANo, Midland Red motorway coaches are

powered by the company's 10.5-litre naturally-aspirated diesels. Turbocharged 8.6-litre engines were employed for some time but their use was discontinued in favour of the unblown 10.5-litre unit on the score of improved reliability and ease of maintenance. Incidentally, Midland Red is ceasing production of vehicles and engines in the near future.

Q With the coming of operators' licensing the demarcation between professional hauliers and own-account operators will largely disappear. If own-account operators take the opportunity to engage in haulage for hire or reward will they then become liable to pay their training levy to the Road Transport Industry Training Board?

AOperators' licensing will not affect pay

ment of the industrial training levy by own-account operators. They will continue to make payments to the appropriate Board as set out in the schedule to the Industrial Training Order concerned depending on the classification of their industrial activity.
