Frank Pucknell, 60. the "kingpin" on Construction and Use Regulations at the Ministry of Transport, retires today. Mr. Pucknell. who for many years has been engaged in assisting with the drafting of regulations at the Ministry, and in giving advice on their interpretation, is officially a higher executive officer in the Vehicle Safety Division. To the road transport industry, and particularly the trade associations, he has become known as the anchorman on C and U queries.

W. J. Nash, chief insurance officer of the National Bus Company. will be retiring on December 31. after 28 years' service with the BET Federation Ltd. and, since the beginning of the year, with the NBC. P. R. Symons, at present deputy chief insur. ance officer, will be appointed administrative officer (insurance and rating), with the status of head of the insurance and rating department. as from January 1, 1970. Within the department. G. Fitzmaurice has been appointed insurance officer, as from the same date, and A. H. Kinsman will continue to hold the appointment of rating officer.

OBITUARY

We record with regret the deaths of Colin Green and George William Porter.

Mr. Green, 32, was a director of Leonard Green (Haulage) Ltd. Cremation took place at Rotherham on Wednesday.

Mr. Porter. 76, who was in business as a road haulier for many years. died at his home in Southery. near King's Lynn.
