Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Two Swansea-based bus companies have been authorized by the Traffic Commissioners to introduce increased fares on January 1. Applications submitted by the South Wales Transport Co. and United Welsh Services were heard by the South Wales Traffic Commissioners in October.

Details now issued by the two companies include the introduction of a 4d. minimum single fare for adults instead of the present 3d. minimum.

Certain single fares up to 1 s. 6d. will be increased by 1d. and all single fares at is. 7d. and above will be increased by 2d.

The existing scale of return fares, from 1s. single fare, will still apply. Children's fares will be adjusted to be two-thirds of the adult fare instead of three-fifths.

Season ticket and six-return journey ticket rates will be based on the revised single fares.
