Fuel prices continue to rise after US al prices soared to a 21-year high at $44.99 (£24.49) a barrel after unrest in Iraq halted production and Russian giant Yukos, one of the world's largest oil producers, faces bankruptcy over billions of dollars in unpaid tax. The UK is the most expensive EU country for fuel at €1.21/lit compared with just €0.72/lit in Poland.
