British Bakers are due to meet the United Road Transport Union this week (16-20 August) in a last ditch bid to resolve the dispute at its plant in Plymouth.
An officer at URTU says the 40 drivers have been offered a 2.8% increase but are demanding 5%.
He adds that the drivers earn just over £19,000 for a maximum 52hour week. "At Bradford in Yorkshire, the drivers are on £22,000. What we are hoping to do is find a way forward where the company can review the proposals. A bit of creativity could be achieved.
