Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ups council

WEST Midland LA A. Crabtree has criticised Nur ton Borough Council opposing the renewal of a licence, then failing to app at a public inquiry.

Describing the council a tude as discourteous, Crabtree renewed the lice. for P. J. Moore & Son, Victoria Garage, Camp Road, Nuneaton, in respec 10 vehicles and five trailers a 12-month period.

Peter Moore, propriet said the council had served enforcement notice requir him to stop using Victc Garage as a haulage depot. had appealed against t] notice and inquiry was due be held on September 1.

He had been operating fn the site for 10 years and the council's attitude was hard to understand, he said. They claimed that access was too restricted, yet they had granted planning permission for a haulage business, 500 yards away, which had a more restricted access.

Victoria Garage was also used for a vehicle repair business. The council had indicated that it did not object to vehicles using the premises for repair and fuelling purposes. If alternative premises were obtained for parking, it would intensify any problem because vehicles would be entering and leaving, more often, making the garage like a bus station in the evening.

Mr Moore said he was in the process of acquiring another haulage business in Coventry with large premises. But he did not know whether the move of additional vehicles to those premises would be regarded as an intensification of use by the planning authority.

'Check'

Advising Mr Moore to check with the planning authority before completing the purchase, Mr Crabtree said he did not want to get involved, too much, in a planning matter. However, an operating base could not be suitable if it was only short term and the local authority was going to kick the operator out.

The local authority had not had the courtesy to attend or supply him with any helpful information, he said, and he hoped the situation would have been sorted out in 12 months' time when the licence again came up for renewal.
