THREE more transport companies in L the Home Counties are in the process of being taken over by the rapidly expanding organization of Davis Bros. (Haulage), Ltd. This news followed quickly on that released last week, which told of the take-over of Thomas Potter .Priestly, Ltd., and Joseph Kitchen, Ltd., by the Davis Group. The present negotiations will involve a total of SO more vehicles.

These are part of development plans which envisage a new 30-vehicle garage, to be built on a site at Cardiff Airport, and the introduction of a pension scheme for all employees within the Group.

Mr. SoIly Davis, head of the Group, revealed last week that the new companies would continue to operate under their own titles and on the same lines. He indicated that the type of traffic would not alter, although directorships might change.

TOKEN STRIKE AT FORDS? .

AONE-DAY token strike was planned for today by shop stewards of the Ford Motor Co., Ltd., when they met last week-end. The strike is in protest against alleged delays in dealing with the hours arid wages claims for 40,000 manual workers.

Last Friday no agreement was reached when the National Joint Negotiating Committee of the company met to discuss. the 'dispute over wage rates to be paid at the proposed new factory at Halewood on Merseyside.

• NO ANTI-DUMPING DUTY

LAST week the Board of Trade 1—d announced its rejection of an application for an anti-dumping duty on ingredient chemicals of anti-freeze mixtures imported from America. During the past 18 months there has been a number of applications for the imposition of anti-dumping duties tO protect British manufacturers. Generally they have been unsuccessful.
