Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Leyland's short-lived Landmaster export truck, axed along with the Bathgate plant, is being replaced by a new forward control model to be unveiled next month.

The new model, to succeed th Landmaster in the 12 to 14 tonne range, uses a lifted and strengthened C44 cab from the lighter European market Roadrunner.

Leyland says that forward control models are becoming more accepted in Third Worl countries, despite their inferior cab protection, poorer engine access and greater heat within the cab.

It launched the Landmaste in 1981 to replace the ageing ex-BMC WF design, but prol lems with the about-to-bedropped 98-Series engine were followed by a collapse the economies of African mar kets in which British makes used to sell successfully.
