• Freightliner, the indepei dent British Rail container s sicliary, has won the renews of its biggest contract — wc over 11 million a year.
It involves import and export movements by rail and road on behalf of Overseas Containers (UK Agencies) a Associated Container Transportation Services via Freightliner's Southampton maritime depot.
Under the terms of the new one-year contract, Freightliner has guaranteed to a daily of 120 custom-bull rail container wagons for round-trip train service.
The trains, which travel a speeds of up to 120km/h, wi run between Southampton ai Barking, Birmingham, Coatbridge, Leeds, Liverpool an( Manchester.
Freightliner has carried co tainers for these two customers since 1972. The new agreement is expected to yield 150,000 container mow ments and have a greater de gree of flexibility.
