Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• About 168 drivers in two Liverpool companies are on strike because their employers refuse to negotiate on the £16 for a 40-hour week formula which ended the three-week Merseyside haulage strike.

They include 88 men from Kirkdale Haulage who stayed out when the strike of 7,000 drivers ended on April 8.

Another firm. Holt Lane Transport. has also stopped work because no talks have started: a third company may be involved this week.

The employers protest that their drivers are not prepared to talk about productivity improvements which would offset the cost of any negotiated rises.
