We've made detailed engine design changes. Here's what they mean to you operating on the road.
Big pulling power doesn't mean sacrifices in reliability and economy. The design changes have been made to improve reliability and cut down-time. And when it comes to fuel, FJ engines are the most miserly in their class on the road. Every gallon takes you that little bit further with an FL And when the MoT's smoke legislation comes into force, FJ's are t00% OK.
Rugged high-performance transmission
FJ's new Mark 4, 5-speed gearbox is the toughest and most efficient on the road. Gear ratios have been carefully worked out for each model to give you fast getaway, smooth, powerful acceleration and maximum fuel economy at high-speed running. Optional overdrive on 5th gear saves even more fuel for long-distance operators. FJ drivers like the short, progressive change. It's easy on the arm and it helps to make him and your FJ a more efficient working unit. All the driving power goes through a new rear axle assembly designed to soak up the worst punishment the most incurable rough-rider can hand out.
You can depend on FJ transmission to keep the wheels turning, keep the big payloads moving. And that's what really matters.
Easy economical servicing and maintenance
FJ servicing cuts essential down-time to the bone. When you tilt the cab for major jobs, the whole engine is in the right place and at the right height for fast easy work. 25,000 variations ensure a 'custom-built' model for you
The new FJ range gives you the widest choice ever, from which CO select a single vehicle or build a carefully planned fleet. With rigid models there's a choice of platform, dropside or tipping bodies; chassis-cab or chassis frontend to incorporate your own special body; standard or overdrive gearbox; single or 2speed rear axle; 5 different wheelbase lengths. The four Prime Movers all come with a'96 in, wheelbase, z-speed axles are standard on the three big tractors. Power steering is standard on 1300 FJ, optional on all other rigids and Prime Movers. That means you never have to make-do with equipment that comes nearest to what you really want. Out of a standard basic range of seven FJ's, you can buy the truck that is tailored exactly to your individual operating needs.
