THE number of vehicles, other than cars and motorcycles, registered for the first time in February was 13,812, bringing the total for the first two months of the year to 32,155. In the "other goods" category, covering the majority of lorries and vans operated by other than special users, 7,071 petrol, 1,850 oil and 153 electric vehicles went on to the roads in February, compared with 9,209, 2,802 and nil respectively in the corresponding month of 1956. Hackney vehicles newly registered in February this year were 54 more in the oil-engined category than a year earlier, but the same number in the petrol-engined.
