Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

If you want to avoid the need for a debt collector, make sure you always get paid in the first place. Some hauliers have become so rigorous in their credit checks that unpaid debts are a thing of the past.

Eddie Anderson, managing director of Aberdeen-based ARR Craib Transport, had to deal with a single bad debt of £240,000 three years ago and it has made him very cautious ever since.

Not only does he credit-check every new customer "If they make a fuss about a check, you donl want to do business with them" but for the first couple of jobs, he insists on payment up front. It has more or less solved the problem, but was an expensive lesson to learn, he says.
