Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

PERKINS has launched a third brand of diesel parts — Major Parts — to complement its Powerpart and Power Exchange parts programmes.

Major Parts consists of 32 types of engine components which make up 80 pc of sales of slow-selling diesel items.

Included in the new programme are cylinder blocks and heads, crankshafts, fuel injection pumps, manifolds, pulleys, gears and coolers.

A new Major Parts directory lists the products and is divided into three sections: an applications index, a part number index and a buyer's guide.

Within the 32 component types there are over 500 engine specifications and therefore a total of 1,600 part numbers.

Of these, 600 have been selected within Major Parts and will be the subject of extensive promotional campaigns. Perkins claims that it will be paying special attention to keen pricing of these products, recognising that the total cost of ownership of an engine is a major consideration for operators. Major Parts are available throughout the world from the Perkins international distributor and dealer network.

The three brands of Perkins parts now comprise — Powerpart (900 fast-moving items); Power Exchange (200 factory remanufactured parts); and the 600 of Major Parts.
