Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

carrying goods for reward for one hour per day, six days per week The rest of the time it will be for private use only. If I register and insure it for goads, does this comply with the law? Will I need to keep driving records? I also drive on hgv the rest of the week. Also could you advise me where to obtain a register of drivers" record books?

AThe use of a private car for carrying

goods does not require an operator's licence and you will not have to observe the drivers' hours and records regulations: the only speed limits are those which any private car is subject to. You must tax the car at the goods rate and also insure it for business use.

You can obtain a register of drivers' record books from HM Stationery Office (e.g. at 49 High Holborn, London WCI) or any bookseller who stocks Stationery Office publications. Alternatively, the Road Haulage Association or the Freight Transport Association supply them to members: and several commercial stationery suppliers also produce them.
