Every year the vehicles at the Lorry Driver of the Year national finals grow more immaculate, and this year the entrants really had excelled themselves in spit and polish. Over the past few years the drivers have been growing more striking in turnout, too, because more and more companies are issuing wellcut uniforms and overalls.
This year, the varieties of red BRS Ltd zip jacket and the attractive new-style uniforms of petrol companies such as Texaco and big carriers like NC L were joined by a new ShellMex uniform, in place of the former brown boiler suits. It is a grey blouse jacket and bibtype overall, topped off with a slate grey peaked cap and new-style company badges. Very neat and practical.
