J. T. Brown, managing director of Atlas Express Ltd. was honoured this week by the Automotive Transport Association of Toronto when its chairman presented him with an Oscar which it awards annually to the person it considered to have done most in the interest of vehicle security. This year's presentation recognizes Mr Brown's contribution to transatlantic co-operation in this field. The ATA is the equivalent of Britain's Road Haulage Association.
Roy Mullins has been appointed sales promotion and publicity manager for Scarnmell Lorries Ltd. He was formerly the sales promotion supervisor for the heavy truck and municipal vehicle division of Chrysler UK.
W. H. Jelpke, 37, traffic manager of East Yorkshire Motor Services Ltd. moves to a similar position with Eastern Counties Omnibus.
P. F. Lanfranchi, 30, an area engineer with Ribble Motor Services Ltd, becomes chief engineer with Eastern National Omnibus Co Ltd from October 1.
M. J. Love has been appointed to the board of Petters Ltd, a Hawker Siddeley Diesels company, and becomes deputy general manager of Petters' Ramble works—a new appointment. Latterly Mr Love has been responsible as director and general manager of Hands Neway Ltd, formerly Hands Trailers, one of the group's commercial vehicle interests which has now been merged with its sister company, Gloster Saro.
F. E. Dark has been appointed a director of the Yorkshire Woollen District Transport Co. Ltd, and Amalgamated Passenger Transport Ltd, in succession to D. R. Vernon.
J, J. Heffron will not seek re-election as a director of European Ferries at the forthcoming agm. because of ill health; he will also cease to be managing director of Thoresen Car Ferries.

Following the recent death in a car accident 1CM August 14) of Mr David Danskin, head of Da nskin's Transport Services Ltd. Strathkinness. Angus, the firm has made a number of new appointments. James Watson has been appointed managing director and will have responsibility for the transport side. lain Duncan becomes a director in charge of administration. William Thomson becomes managing director of Muir's Transport Ltd, the firm's Cupar subsidiary, which he has run for some time. William Danskin is now chairman of both companies.
