IN the face of strong opposition, Mr. F. L. Lees, Worksop, has been granted licences to operate express carriage services from the R.A.F. camp at Worksop to Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester by the East Midlands Licensing Authority. Mr. A. C. G. Rothera, for the applicant, said that Mr. Lees had operated these camp services under private hire

until the beginning of . this, year When: having doubts about their legality, he told the camp authorities that he could not continue them. He had submitted the application to put his position in order: -Without direct bus services, said Mr. Rothera, airmen at the camp would not be able to make use of their 36-hour passes.

Mr. J. N. Valiance, for the Railway Executive, said that adequate facilities would be available for the camp. personnel with slight changes in train times from the three cities and the co-operation of the bus companies.

Granting the lieences, the Authority stated that the existing services were by no means satisfactory.
