Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Among the infamous expressions created by management consultants is: "Assume will make an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me': In short, don't take anything for granted. The latest row over the Working Time Directive suggests that the Transport & General Workers Union can't assume it has all its members on board when it comes to support for the WTD.

The issue for any driver is simple: "Will I earn the same money I earn now after the directive comes into force?" Ask the average driver and you're bound to get the answer: "Yes, I'd like to work fewer hours for the same money!" But equally, most know that this is something for the unions and the employers to negotiate. The road looks anything but smooth, not least as many drivers working for parcels giant TNT appear not to be persuaded by the T&G's own arguments in favour of the WTD. TNT and its employees might seem like an unusual anti-WTD alliance, but an alliance it surely is.
