• BOC Cryoplants has developed a new vacuuminsulated oblique cone tanker for carrying liquid nitrogen at —196`C on BOC's UK and European operations.
Instead of traditional sloping inner/outer vessels the new 38-44 tonne GCW Loline tankers have a horizontal cylinder design that both meets various national regulations and provides a lower centre of gravity.
Its tilt angle has improved, to 24° and so too has its onroad stability say the makers.
At 44 tonnes gross it is some 150mm lower than BOC's conventional tanker design.
So far seven Loline's, each costing £200,000 have been built, three of them working in Holland, with another three in build.
The tankers which are formed at BOC's north London plant and equipped by M1 Engineering in Bradford, achieve maximum deliveries using a front lift/rear lower facility on the unit and the trailers BPW air suspension.
