• Reading-based JWQ Transport & Storage has gone into liquidation with debts of more than £'6m, after nearly 30 years in operation.

About 50 staff have been made redundant, and the four sites have been closed; two at Reading, and at Sittingboume and Doncaster. There are no plans to look for a buyer for the 23.5m turnover firm.

JWQ's holding company Worton Holdings, which wound-up Capital Forklift Services last June, has also gone into liquidation. El Combined Road Services Transport of Glasgow has gone into provisional liquidation, and has laid off about 140 staff. The 30-year-old general haulage firm had 35 trucks and four depots at Glasgow, Prudhoe, Blaydon and Er& And Wolverhampton-based bodybuilder Transliner, which went into receivership last month has still not found a buyer, although it says it has had plenty of interest.
