Zeal's Zeatronic RDS 300 was launched in June. It uses two probes to check temperatures in the cold compartment and prints these in a monitor in the cab at preset intervals of between one and 90 minutes. If the preset temperature limit is exceeded an alarm sounds and an asterisk appears on the readout.
The device costs around £350; Booker Wholesale Foods recently ordered 120.
