The leaflet outlines 20 points of advice for the lone traveller, which includes most of Britain's truck drivers. These include the warnings: never pick up hitch-hikers; park in well-lit areas; ensure anyone offering help identifies themselves, and lock all doors except one.
Although the RAC says the leaflet is aimed mainly at women and disabled motorists, truck drivers, particularly those carrying valuable loads, are vulnerable if they break down.
