• Bodybuilding company Truckpanels, in receivership since August, has been bought by Temperature Controlled Technology, and expects to start production this week_ Some of Truckpanels' 70 redundant workers can expect employment with TCT, but how many is unclear. "There may be opportunities for reemployment of some of the old workforce once the firm is reestablished," says TCT chairman Don Burton. Truckpanels will continue to manufacture its established range at first but "developments are also planned," according to TCT.

Deflated plants IN The recession in the truck industry has hit tyre manufacturer Michelin, which plans to lay-off 2,000 workers temporarily at two truck-tyre plants.

The Ballymena, Northern Ireland, and Burnley plants will both close for a week at the end of this month and for a week between Christmas and New Year.
