NORTH-EASTERN British F Services can't rule out the sibility of further redundan this year according to its n aging director Ron Fortune "If the economy continue decline even further, we have no alternative but to re( resources still further w again means a reductior people."
Mr Fortune sees a diff time ahead for North-eas BRS, but believes that ther some light at the end of the nel.
'There is no doubt that we under considerable pres5 currently from customers are asking us to carry good reduced rates, and also volume of business is seriol reduced as a result of the eral economic climate.
"All we can do is to conti trimming resources in line 1, the market available in orde survive.
"We can emerge a leaner fitter company ready to exp in selected areas as the E nomy improves."
The company is trying to new business especially in contract hire and engineei fields, and improvements are pected during 1981.
One area which particul, bothers Mr Fortune is gem haulage. "Our general haul activity continues to present most worrying picture and at end of July we were showin loss in this activity in excesE £250,000.
"We are also concerned ab truck rental which, again duE the downturn economy, is rently trading at a loss."
