Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A NORTHERN extension of the proposed Newcastle Western by-pass, between Scotswood Bridge and the A696 Ponteland, Road, will be added to the Department of Transport's Trunk Road preparation pool.

The extension would take the by-pass north of Kenton Banktop to join the A6125 near Seaton Burn (formerly the Al) and means that the entire Western by-pass of Newcastle will be considered for construction as a trunk road and will be funded by Central Government.
