According to Armadillo's managing director Don Wright the money enables a business to call the company in to solve problems like pilferage, embezzlement or fraud.

"We can undertake security vetting of job applicants or organise protective measures for premises such as routine visits or permanent alarm systems."

Mr Wright says that two mil lion unemployed means more people short of money, more people with time on their hands, and more people tempted to steal.

Retailers taking on temporary staff during December and January should have them carefully vetted beforehand, he says.
