Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

I am sorry to disappoint R. A. Ayton of Aytons Coaches, Nantwich, but his claim (CM August 4) that his daughter Christine is Britain's youngest lady bus driver cannot go unchallenged. Mrs Wendy Carmichael, who was trained in our own school, is regularly driving our double-deck buses in service. She commenced with us as a conductress on October 1 1973 and passed her psv driving test on the May 30 1974. She will not be 22 until the December 9 1974.

Until another claimant goes one better — and I am sure that they will — I must claim for Wendy Carmichael the title of Britain's youngest lady bus driver!

D. A. SISSONS, Transport Manager, Eastbourne Borough Council Transport Department.
