truck drivers CM sponsors facilities with BSM

LATER this year or early in 1969 many goods vehicle drivers will need to pass the h.g.v. driving test in order to qualify for driving a heavy goods vehicle. To provide much needed tuition facilities. Commercial Motor has arranged with the British School of Motoring for a six-hour course, staffed by expert instructors, to be available throughout the country. Also. by applying on forms published only in Commercial Motor, operators and drivers will get a substantial reduction in the fees they would normally pay for this top-class instruction.

When the 1967 Lorry Driver of the Year took the h.g.v. test---in advance of the official scheme—he found it demanding, and advised other candidates to get experience, get tuition. This new course provides an oppor tunity not to be missed.

This is the syllabus of the CM.BSM. heavy goods vehicle driving course: Hour 1: Introduction: driver's regula dons;' Highway Code: load security. Controls: cab instruction, Hour .2: Gear' changing, including double-declutching;

road positioning: cornering. Hour 3: Hazard approach; overtaking: lane discipline. Hour 4: General drive: requirements of heavy goods vehicle driving test: braking. Hour 5: Manoeuvring: parking: reversing. Hour 6: General drive: heavy traffic. Revision.

As an example of the saving in fees by using the CM booking form, a course on, vehicles over 3 tons, normally £9 15s, is reduced to £8 5s.

See next week's Commercial Motor for the special application form.
