• The Motor Agents' Association is urgently considering the possibility of compiling and publishing a comprehensive register of its members, with details of the facilities they offer to the public. The approach would be entirely different from the basis of the Automobile Association's garage grading plan. This was revealed by the MAA president, Mr. Richard Hawksley, on Tuesday.
Mr. Hawksley, who said that both associations were having top-level discussions about their relationship, appealed for a period in which the AA and MAA could be left alone to hammer out the details of a worthwhile solution which was thoroughly acceptable and workable.
The MAA, it will be recalled has raised objections to the AA's grading scheme and has asked it's members not to participate. The AA said this week that about 2,000 garages had so far applied for participation in the grading scheme and approximately 300 had so far been accepted and registered.
