QOME mobile shops provide a real
service to rural districts in Northern Ireland by saving housewives the time and trouble of going to the nearest big town. This was pointed out by Mr. A. Wedderburn, chairman of the Northern Ireland Association of Rural District Councils, when the association received a complaint about mobile traders from Belfast R.D.C.
Belfast suggested that new legislation shotild be introduced to put stricter control on mobile shops, claiming that they provided unfair competition to shopkeepers. The association agreedto take no action, however, on the grounds that the issue could be better dealt with by trade groups.
