stand No. .98 A TRAILER which will carry 25 tons n. is something of a novelty, but the Feigelson trailer shown by Mr. Aitken ins this capacity. It is specially adapted or the transport of long articles such as og,s, pipes, steel girders, etc. It is contructed in a somewhat unusual• manner, ind practically consists of two four-wheel mgies joined together by a stout steel lrawbar. The rear of the front bogie is :onnected by crossed chains to the front ixle of the rear bogie, so that as the front railer pulls, the back trailer follows in ts track, and thus there is no danger of loulird kerbs, etc., when rounding iorners.
The construction throughout is very massive, the girders being riveted and gelded and provided with strong gusset lates and angle pieces. Although this machine is designed for such heavy loads, its actual weight is only 24. tons. Owing t,o its flexibility, it is claimed that this trailer will follow anywhere where a caterpillar tractor can go.

2-1 A N interesting and practical addition
to the trailers at present on the market is the Doubleload, built by Jas. Bartle. and Co., Ltd. As is usual with anything built by this company, it embodies most up-to-date practice, and is thoroughly sound throughout. One of the requirements of a trailer is freedom in running, as otherwise excessive power is lost.. In this respect the Bartle will certainly give satisfaction, as, afthough it will carry loads of from five to six tons, owing to its ball-bearing wheels, it. is se free in running that it can easily be hauled along the level by nne Man.
The frame is constructed of steel pressings and well riveted ; the pivot is 4 ins. in diameter and is hollow, so that it can be filled with oil. The turntable plates are recessed, so that they can be packed with graphite composition. Compensated brakes of the internal-expanding type, with Ferodo-faced shoes, act on the rear wheel drums. They can be operated either from the front of the trailer or from the lorry, thus conforming with the law. The drawbar is provided with a powerful volute spring, and the built-up disc wheels are shod with solid rubber tyres.

Stand No. 41 VOUR examples of the Carrimore
trailer are displayed on the stand occupied by Carrosserie Latymer, Ltd. The most interesting is a 4-5 ton threeway -tipping trailer, which is provided with hand-operated screw gear and has a steel body with hinged sides and tailboard. The tipping gear can also be operated mechanically from the vehicle to which the trailer is attached. At its upper portion the lifting screw is universally jointed, and to tip in any direction it is only necessary to release the locking bolts at the ether aide or at the front end. The frame is constructed throughout of channel steel, well gusseted, and a sub-frame is provided for the tipping gear. The other complete trailer is a 4 ton ner with a hinged-sided body, in which the sides are also detachable. This, as is the case with all the other models, has a chassis constructed entirely of steel, and the trailers are thus auita,ble for hard work, being particularly adapted for use in hot climates, as no troubles are experienced with the shrinkage of wooden wheels or other portions of the frame.
The third exhibit is a 4-5 ton chassis. The fourth and last trailer is a new type which embodies Ackermann steering. The drawbar on this model is spring loaded, and the braking can be done from the side of the trailer, or the brakes can be operated by the driver of the towing vehicle.
Fry Bros., Ltd.

ATHREE ton example of the trailers made by Fry Bros., Ltd., isahown on their stand. The chassis is strongly built with channel steel side members joined by cross-members of similar material at the ends, where strengthening gusset plates are also employed. Following the most modern practice Ackermann steering is utilized, a continuation of the drawbar being connected to steering arms on the wheels by short shafts with ball joints. The axles are forged steel I-section beams, carrying built up welded steel wheels shod with solid rubber tyres and running on phosphor-bronze bushes. Internal-expanding brakes, totally enclosed to prevent the entrance of water and 'dirt, are provided for the. rear wheels, and can he operated by the driver of the towing vehicle. The body fitted on this trailer is of the open-sided type suitable for general purposes.
Sentinel Waggon Works, Ltd.

ON the Sentinel stand is -to be found one of the most remarkable trailers in the Show. This is an entirely new production which has the important feature of being constructed with a mini
mum of parts. The.trailer is built up by making use of four • one-piece pressed steel turntable units, these forming the cross-members of the frame, the circles upon which the under-carriages can turn, and the under-carriages themselves, both front and rear. This method of manufacture is patented.
Owing to this construction the weight of the frame portion has been so much reduced that strength can be applied where it is most necessary. The rear portion of the trailer is made exactly the same as the front portion, except that it is bolted up solid, whereas the front portion swivels ; this enables the two ends to be changed over when, after long wear, the turntable becomes unfit for service except when bolted up solid.
The loading capacity is 4 tons and the trailer is made in two sires, one with a platform 13 ft. 6 ins, long, and the other a platform 15 ft. low". The weights are 28 cwt. for the short model and 30 cwt. for the long.

A'TRAILER of somewhat novel construction and known as the H.I.C., is shown by Haulage Improvements and Construction's, Ltd. The chief point of interest in this is the arrogement of the springing, each axle carrying threecoil springs made of strong square section material, at each side. There is also a single horizontal coil.sprinc, which ads as a damping device for each of the main set of springs.
