Cesspool Emptier and Watering Cart. 2 ton Brewer's Lorry. Saloon Bus.
STAND No. 58.
THE fine range of models on this stand has been very well chosen to show the variety of purposes to which the chassis produced by this well-known firm can be adapted ; each type of chassis manufactured is represented amongst them.
The combined cesspool emptier and watering cart on the J type chassis is undoubtedly the most interesting exhibit on the stand from the point cf view of mechanical features. The ingenious combined vacuum pump and air compressor enables the tank to fulfil the two purposes with the minimum of mech anical complication, and the tipping arrangement, whieh permits the substitution of an ordinary tipping body when desired, increases the utility of the ma
chine' which should be much appreciated by municipal authorities.
All the bodywork•on4this stand is exceptionally well finished, and the large box van mounted on the 5 ton chassis, which has been built at the Basingstoke works of the company, gives anindication of the large capacity load which this vehicle can undertake.
The brewer's lorry fitted with stanchions and chains, and made to the order of Ind, Coops and Co., Ltd., is a very good example, of the use to which the 2 ton chassis can be put. The chassis is very nicely designed. throughout, hat centrally disposed change-speed and hand-brake levers, and a special form of three-point engine and gearbox suspension, of which recent tests have amply demonstrated the efficacy. This is, undoubtedly, one of the finest medium load chassis in the show, and the exhibit, on the whole, is one on which the wellknown Basingstoke concern is to be heartily congratelated, and which fully maintains their reputation. A B.T. engine and gearbox are also on view.
