FIVE vehicles are shown on this stand by Republic Trucks, Ltd. Two of these have 30 owt, and three 2 ton Republic chassis.
!Three examples of excellent coachwork are. shown. The Republic-Portland is a single-deck bus seating 20 persons, mounted on a 2 ton chassis. The seats are set in pairs, and in the normal posi tion face front. Every other seat, however, has a movable back, so that they can be used facing rear. Four baizecovered tables can be placed in sockets between the seats for use for meals or cards. Balanced drop windows, with a silent clamping device, are fitted, and a C.A.V. dynamo lighting set provides inside and outside lighting. The bus is run on Goodyear pneumatics' 38 ins. by 7 ins, at the rear and 36 ins. by 6 ins, at front, all on 36 in. by 6 in. rims.".
The Republic-Olympic, also'on a 2 ton chassis, with same size Greiklyear pneumatics, is a dual-purpOSO vehicle. The saloon top is detachable, and can be replaced by a one-man hood. Accommodation for 14 persons, all on single swivel seats, is provided, and by arranging these seats along the sides a table, carried at the rear, can be run down 'the
centre. A small wash-stand draws out from a cupboard at the front, water being held in a tank below the chassis. On a 30 ewt. chassis is the 14-seater char-a-banes which has been passed by Scotland Yard. This is also a dual-purpose vehicle, a •two-piece detachable winter top ;being replaceable by a oneman hood. The char-it-basics can also be used closed in front and open at the rear.
The other exhibits are a-standard 2 ton chassis sad a Springwell side-tipping body mounted on a 30 cwt. chassis. The body is balanced on a central pivot held in position by two rails. On the top of each:set of rails are two ball rollerssto compensate for uneven loading. On the opposite side to that on which it is desired to tip, a handle releases the locking blocks, and the body runs easily to the limit of the rails, where it tilts over.
