30 cwt. Chassis. 3 ton Chassis.

STAND No. 29.

wE have on this stand a very good example of Continental chassis, designed specially to run on pnenmatiii tyres. The detachable disc wheels and pneumatic tyres are, in fact, standard on both the 30 cwt. and the 3 ton chassis, fn general lay-out, the design of these two vehicles is very similar, but the 3 ton model has a Knight sleeve valve type engine. The method of combining the gearbox, clutch and engine in a single nnit. has been very well thought out, and it enab'es an effective type of

three-paint suspension to be employed. The design throughout is, in fact, well up to the standard of this very famous maker. A somewhat similar rear axle and torque tube arrangement is employed on both chassis, and an interesting feature which might well be cornmended to .sonfe English makers is the staying of the rear axle on the heavier medel both above and below. On this chassis is seen one of the few examples in the Show of twin rear brake construction, and the steel strips which are-used in lieu of cables or rod for brake actuation are rather common. A small though excellent feature on these two chassis is the oiling arrangement for the spring shackle pins. The 30 'cwt. chassis is fitted with sprags of a navel type, mounted on the side members just behind the gearbox and brought into action by means of a cable from a hand lever on the dash.
