THE McCurdLorry Manufacturing . Co., Ltd., are exhibiting one 4 ton AcCurd chassis, together with a number if engine and transmission parts. The &Curd is an honest British production, milt to withstand abnormal road con disons and loads. The engine haa a bore end stroke of 4-1 ins. by 51 ins: respecAvely, and the crankshaft is of very nassive dimensions, supported entirely is the. top half of the crankcase by five searing& Lubrication is by a plunger sump actuated by an eccentric on the :amshaft. •

The clutch is of the external leather cone typo, of very large diameter and width, and is mounted on two ball races well spaced apart. The gearbox, which gives four forward speeds and a reverse, is of substantial design. The gear wheels are •allIfitted to *lined shafts, no keys being used. The main shaft-runs in five ball races and the reverse pinion is idle when not engaged.

The back axle of the McCurd has received special attention. The axle case is of substantial proportions and is designecrto give such strength that no tiered is necessary. The differential is of the spur wheel type and the worm wheel is bolted to the differential casesin such a manner that all side stresses on the bolts are avoided. The worm, which is of steel, is mounted on large ball races, and the whole of the internal mechanism of the axle can be taken out without removing the road wheels or disturbing the load.
