STAND No, 97.

I TALIA.N designers have always been noted for the amount of artistic talent they put into their work, and the Lancia is a vehicle which has long been typical of the best Italian design.

The two chassis shown on this stand are remarkably fine examples of heavy capacity vehicles specially designed to rue on air-filled tyres. A very neat monobloc, detachable head engine has an aluminium crankcase, the rear arras of Which are extended aft to combine with the gearbox casing, making a very neat arrangement. Central change-speed and hand brake levers are fitted, and a novel form of foot brake is adopted, the shoes of which are drawn together on to the

drum by means of roller chains. The rear axle is well ribbed and provided ivith a deep, triangular, pressed steel torque member, and the pressed steel frame, which ia inawept at the front, has awry wide flanges, particularly at that portion just behind the dash. Specially noteworthy features are the very large diameter of the spring pins and the efficient greasers fittedto them.

The method of wrapping the second leaf of the rear spring around the anchorages is a goad point.

For a heavy vehicle, the general appearance of the front part of the chassis is extremely good. The cast-aluminiuni dashboard is provided with nickel-plate fittings and conveys an impression of touring car practice.

The design of both vehicles has ineluded a large combination of the artistry of the pleasure car designer with the robustness and utility of ordinary heavy vehicle practice.

The chassis are 35 h.p gi-tonners, one having a, long wheelbase and the other a short wheelbase.
