Single...deck Bus. 30-seater Coach. Small Fire-engine.
STAND No. 50.
QPECIAL interest attaches to the kJ' range of models staged on the Dennis stand this year, by reason of the fact that the experience which Sir Raymond Dennis gained during his 20 months' world tour, is to a certain extent reflected; in the types of vehicles now shown.
Of the two • chassis exhibited, the 2-tanner is perhaps of greater interest, as it has been specially designed to meet overseas conditions, with the idea of pro
clueing a, vehicle which should be able to negotiate the road surfacesa:and weak bridges which in many, countries.are not able to carry heavier machines. This chassis is mounted on Dunlop giant pneumatic tyres, and a pump for inflation purposes is driven by oven gearing from
the rear coupling on the clutch shaft, being thrown in and outaof action by a lever at the side of the frame.
Another machine is the new light model 30 hp. 200-250 gallon fire-engine, which -is also mounted on .pneumatic tyres. It has been designed to meet the needs of smaller brigades in this country and the conditions imposed on the size and weight of vehicles in certain places overseas. As usual, the pump is mounted at the rear end of the chassis, and an entirely new type of drive is employed, the gearing being now accommodated in the main gearbox instead of in a separate casing, as on previous Dennis fireengines.
The 30-seater coach is a very handsome passenger-carrying vehicle, and is provided with the well-known Dennis patent type of hood, which is onevof the most satisfactory solutions of this difficult problem which has yet been devised.
All the bodywork on the Dennis stand has been built at the Guildford works, and reflects great credit on the company's coachbuilders.
The 30-seater single-deck bus is mounted on the 40 h.p. long, wheelbase chaesis, and embodies quite a number of interesting features.
