VBRICLES of De Dion make long ago won a splendid reputation in this country for efficiency and durability. They still retain many of the features which were associated with the first models 'produced, although, naturally, very important improvements have been carried out during the time which has elapsed since then.
The most striking characteristic is the suspending of the differential and bevel drive casing from the frame, the drive being taken from it by short cardan shafts to the pinions of the internal gear rings bolted to the wheels. The main axle ietubular and carries at. its ends castings forming the spring anchorages and to which are securedthe stub axles on which rim the rear'wheels.
Four vehicles are on view, three of these being bare chassis, whilst the 'remaining one carries a low-sided platform lorry. This vehicle runs on specially resilient solid tyres.
As regards the chassis, one is a 30-40 .cyyt. 20 h.p. machine, which can bfeutilized for motor coasht workS and is provicled, with pneumatic tyrei all round, twins being fitted at the rear. The second passenger chassis is a 35 hp. model with an extra long wheelbase. Thissalso runs on Michelin pneumatics. It is interesting to note that in This vehicle the four cylinders are separate, whereas in the other models the cylinders are cast in+pairs. It also has-pump circulation i instead of thermo-syphonic.
The remaining chassis is a 3i ton model running en solid tyres, hut otherwise similar to the smaller, chassis.
