Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Van

Side Entrance Bus. 7 ton Overtype Chassis. 4 ton Platform Van.

STAND No. 34.

THE new 7 ton chassis certainly deserves to be mentioned first. The chassis shown was finished just before the Show and driven down by road immediately after completion. It etnbodiee some interesting deviations from farmer Caledon design. The' chief of these is the change-speed mechanism, which has been simplified to a remarkable degree. By utilizing a special selector operating rod carrying pinions at each erkil meshing with racks, the selecting of the gears is done by simple rotation of the operating rod, whilst the actual changing is achieved by a second rod. The action is

entirely automatic and controlled only by the movement of the change-speed lever.

Next comes the suspension of the gearbox, which is now at three points instead of four, the front hanger being pivoted on the mainsbaft housing. In order to carry the full load of 7 tons without-threwing undue. weight, on the rear wheels, the dashboard has been pushed right forward to the radiator, and the driver is positioned at the side of the engine. The final drive is through a countershaft and roller claim.

The second chassis on this stand is a standard SE type, especially designed with overhead worm drive for passenger work or for carrying 4 ton loads.

As regards actual vehicles, two are 01:1 view. One is a 90-seater single-deck-bus, divided into two compartments and provided with one door at the centre of the near side. This bas is also of the overtype. The last vehicle is_a 4 ton chaindriven machine, fitted with a platform body and built to carry Johnnie Walker whisky.
