Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

2 ton and 5 ton Tip Wagons.

STAND • No. 36.

THE Autocar is an American production, and is shown on this stand by the British concessionna, ires in the form of a 2 ton and also a 5 ton tipping wagon. The chief point of the 2 tonner is its short wheelbase, which is only 8 ft. 1 in., whilst the 5 tonner has a

10 ft. wheelbase. The engine is die

posed under the driver's seat, having twin-opposed cylinders, every detail being entirely accessible from above the seat when the engine cover is lifted by means of quite a small lever assisted by springs, which, in fact, do a greater part of the work. The drive is taken through a three-speed gearbox and a double reduction back 'axle to artillery wheels. The tipping gear on both types is practically identical except for is difference which we will explain later. The power for tipping is taken fawn a power head over the gearbox, a sliding pinion, operated from the driver's seat,

putting in motion a train of gears. It is then taken throngh a shaft to a wormdriven reduction gear, and then across the frame to a bevel reduction gear mounted on the shafts of a large pinion turning two arms which lift the body through two connecting rods. On the 2 tanner this shaft has a continuous rotary motion which gives a complete tipping and return action, but on the 5 fowler a reverse gear is employed, and tipping can be stopped at any point and the body returned to its position at rest, so that not only a com, plete tip but a partial tip is possible.
