Contact Jeremy Harpham (0784) 421422. • A full colour PC version of the Trafficmaster traffic information system hit the market last week from General Logistics and Cray Systems. The expanded system now gives the latest information on roads in the south and midlands.

• Tail-lifts are now being produced with alternative platforms which stay level when on the ground by the Ray Smith Group in Peterborough. The new platforms are useful for goods on pallets or cages with wheels or with topheavy items which hold steadier if kept vertical during unloading.

Longer life

• London Buses has approved a new design to improve the service life of braking systems developed by Barnwell Services and Imperial Engineering. Interchangeable with the Lockheed and Clayton braking system, it has been fitted to Routemaster buses.

Route! benefit

• Subscribers to Routds back-load matching computer service are now automatically issued with BT chargecards so that their drivers do not have to carry change for pay phones.

Another benefit of the card is that hauliers will be issued with an itemised bill which will allow them to recover the VAT on the cost of the phone calls.

• Bandag has developed a heavy tread tyre which it says is as quiet as a standard model. The BMD's tread (for 220mm wide and above casings) is designed to increase traction and the amount of miles an operator can get out of its tyres.
