NO fewer than 10 crossings a day between
Southafitpton and Cherlxiurg/Le Havre will be operated next summer by Thoresen Car Ferries Ltd., when a new freight ferry ship just announced comes into service. Due to be launched in January, the 1,199 ton vessel will be a roll-on ferry exclusively for freight and will have one open and four enclosed load decks. The main trailer deck will have a headroom of 13 ft. 7 in. and the total capacity will he for 30 trailers plus 150 export cars, or an equivalent combination. There will be 10 electric power points for refrigerated cargoes.
Thoresen announced last week that their 1966 freight traffic showed an increase of 268 per cent over last year's.
