Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Police and academics arc planning an intense study of driver fatigue in North Wales this summer.

The study, organised by chief inspector lwan Roberts of the North Wales police, has been prompted by higher accident rates during summer months attributed to fatigued drivers on their way to or from holidays. Commercial drivers are usually fairly good about staying within the hours regulations, says Roberts.

0 A roadside check of 120 trucks on the A5 last week by North Wales police led to six immediate prohibitions, six delayed prohibitions and six defect notices. Another six trucks were overweight; 14 drivers were questioned about possible tachograph and drivers hours offences and one vehicle was found to be using red diesel.
