Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Bedford's withdrawal from the coach market means that many owners are now having problems with engine replacements, but United Counties Engineering of Northampton says it has a solution.

Since its appointment as a Cummins replacement engine dealer in October 1988, UCE has completed a dozen replacements in Bedford YMT coaches, using a specially adapted Cummins 6BTA 5.9litre engine which produces 134kW (180hp) at 2,600rpm. A

turbocharger with integral cooler gives a high power-toweight ratio, says UCE.

The conversion carries Cummins' normal 12-month warranty. The UCE treatment includes installation of a Lipe ceramic clutch and power sterring pump, compressor, and alternator rated specifically for 'PSV operation. The work takes about seven days and costs 25,900 (ex-VAT). For more details contact Crawford Giles at UCE, on (0604) 20031.
