The aluminium body with its full-depth vee-shaped longitudinal runners also has a separate top-hinged centre bulkhead for carrying split or mixed loads. This system secures by means of a rackand-pinion locking device mounted beneath the rear wing valance.
It is also used with insulated bodies where smaller quantities of tarmac are to be delivered.
PPG is building on two, three and four-axlcd rigid chassis and is about to begin turning out semi-trailer versions. It says its frontrecessed body system with Hyva 120 tipping gear adds about 1 ,600kg to the tare weight.
