• Can-Artic, the Warrington based refrigeration service company, is marketing Canadian-built high-capacity, front-mounting freezer units in Britain.
The first example, a Super 1000E, was seen recently at Truckfest on a Marston reefer trailer which was exhibited by sister company and UK agent, Warrington Transport Refrigeration. The freezer unit's cooling/ heating unit is Kubota dieselpowered with a Bock compressor. Its capacity at 37.8° ambient is given as 11,340Kcal/hr at 1.7°C; 8,568Kcal/hr at minus 17.8°C; and 5.54Kcal/hr at minus 29°C.
Double gull-wing fibre-glass doors open fully from the centre to give clear access for maintenance. Weighing 927kg including its 189Iit fuel tank, the unit retails at around £9,500. Can-Artic is also marketing the 1-Ticker 11 high-visibility temperature display unit for under £200. Made by Branstedt Controls of Miami, Florida, it uses standard 3.0m internal probes (optional lengths up to 17.1m are available) and its large digital readout can be reversed for the driver to read in his mirror.
