Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Heavy haulage specialist Econofreight of Middlesbrough has broken another weightlifting record with three 690-tonne reactors for the Esso refinery at Fawley, near Southampton. The heaviest load previously moved any distance on British roads was 647 tonnes.

It took Econofreight six hours to move the reactors 12km (7.5 miles) from Marchwood quayside to the refinery, using the revolutionary new HySpec (hydraulic, self-powered, electronically-controlled) transporters that the company unveiled earlier this year (CM 16-22 March).

On three successive Sundays at the end of April and the beginning of this month, Econofrieght set out at 6arn with a full police escort to follow a route which had taken 10 months to plan. An 8.5m load height meant that many overhead power and telephone lines had to be taken down.

The two HySpec trailers used on the Esso contract were rigged as one 10-axle double-width unit and one eight-axle double-width unit: each was fitted with a 500tonne-capacity turntable and bolster.
