THERE was a 10.5 per cent increase in the number of lorries using Dover during this March, compared with last, the Board's figures show.
Numbers rose by 6,486 over last March's total to make a total of 68,233 haulage units using the port in March.
For the first three months of 1985, compared with the same period last year, the number of lorries using the port rose by 4.65 per cent to 185,270 — but the tonnage of cargo handled fell by just over half of one per cent, to 2.2in tonnes for the period.
